International Business students have raised £133 for White Lodge Centre in Chertsey, which supports disabled children in Surrey.
Students enrolled in the TASIS England International Business course have set up a model business using theory learned during the first session of summer school. The class decided to name the business TSB Co-operative (TASIS School of Business). To market their new events and sales business, the group designed promotional posters and then held a TSB fair on the TASIS England campus. The event included stalls selling food and handmade jewelry, and there were music and games to entertain peers.
International Business teacher, Ms. Kyriazi commented, “The students were engaged in a step-by-step process leading up to the fair, which consisted of: developing product ideas, conducting market research, creating a business plan, budgets, and promotional material, then predicting costs and revenue, and, finally, launching the products on the day of the fair. I think they did a great job!”
After the fair students decided to donate the profit to a local charity that helps disabled children. Today, three representatives from International Business class visited White Lodge Centre to present the check to Head of Fundraising, Mrs. Steptoe.
Mrs. Steptoe was grateful for the students’ effort, and commented, “It is extremely important that our local community supports us, it means so much to the Centre and it helps to keep our work here going. Thank you all very much.”
